Program Overview

Age Eligibility

Open to children ages 16 months – 6 years. Children must be currently enrolled or have attended A World Discovery, or be new families joining for the summer.

June 29 – August 21, 2025
Monday through Friday
8 weeks of themed programming

Hours

Core Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Before Care: 7:00 – 8:30 AM
After Care: 3:00 – 6:00 PM
Nutritious meals & snacks included

Weekly Themes

Week 1

Music around the world

An exploration of the different types of music played around the world.

  • Exposure to Classical, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Jazz, Folk, Country and Rap music
  • Painting to different genres of music
  • Music on the map activities
Week 2

Famous Musicians and Composers.

A discovery of historical and contemporary musicians and how music has changed throughout the years.

  • Musician and genre matching
  • Overview of music in history
  • Learning the creators of our favorite songs
Week 3

Musical Instruments

An introduction to musical instruments and their sounds.

  • Introduction to woodwind, string, brass, and percussion instrument families
  • Making music with water science experiment

Week 4

Introduction to Music Theory

Rhythm and beat, composition and creation, and the basics of treble clef.

  • Finding rhythm in everyday activities
  • Introduction to bells and composition of songs
  • Notes of the treble clef and their names
Week 5

Visual arts: Drawing and painting

Artist of the week: Vincent Van Gogh

  • Printmaking using stamps
  • Process art: watercolors
  • Pop art: bright colors of paint to create abstract art

Sculptures: using clay and playdough
